The Microwave Diagnostics Engineer is responsible for the design, installation, commissioning, operation, and maintenance of microwave diagnostic systems on tokamak devices (such as microwave interferometers, reflectometers, microwave imaging systems, ECE radiometers, and microwave scattering diagnostics). The role ensures accurate measurements of key plasma parameters—including density, temperature, and fluctuations—during device operation. In addition, the engineer participates in data processing and analysis to support the application of diagnostic results in experimental physics research, device operation optimization, and theoretical modeling.

What you'll do:

● Participate in the conceptual and detailed design of microwave diagnostic systems. Design and optimize microwave transmission lines, antennas, vacuum windows, and related optical/electronic components.

● Carry out installation, vacuum interface design, antenna alignment, and RF chain testing. Ensure compatibility of the diagnostic system with the tokamak device and other diagnostics.

● Operation and Maintenance of the diagnostic systems.

● Develop or apply algorithms for signal decoding, filtering, and physical parameter extraction.Provide processed data products such as density profiles, temperature profiles, and turbulence spectra for physics research.

● Conduct R&D on new diagnostic methods to meet evolving experimental requirements.

Who we’re looking for:

● Master’s degree or above in Plasma Physics, Microwave Engineering, Electronic Information, Optoelectronic Engineering, or related fields.

● Knowledge of microwave and RF circuits and proficiency in signal processing and experimental instrumentation.

● Strong problem-solving ability for complex engineering challenges. Effective teamwork and interdisciplinary communication skills.
